Nagpur Today: Every year, Diwali is one evening Gondwana members look forward to going to, as soon as their Laxmi Pujan at home is done with. Though it is a tradition to not leave home or lock your front door on Diwali night, members of this club situated on Seminary Hills do not mind flouting this rule, because the Club is their home away from home. It is one place where you can meet most of your friends and relatives and spend a relaxed and festive evening without the botheration of hosting your personal party or laying out a good spread for guests.
All roads this Diwali led to the Gondwana club on the 23rd night for its dazzling fire works, great food and a turn out of the city’s elite. They were dressed in their best ethnic finery, flaunting traditional jewelry. Each member was dressed in his / her native attire. Red colour dominated among women , paired with light coloured sherwanis of men reflecting Diwali colours and fervour.
The ethnic atmosphere was re enforced by the presence of a ‘choodiwallah’ ( bangles seller) and artists drawing mehendi, which is a must for North Indians on any festival day. Every one attending had a good time meeting friends over drinks and lavish food.
