Nagpur: Cops attached to the Crime Branch’s Unit-4 of Nagpur Police nabbed Shankar alias Sheru Bholasingh Rathod (52) and his son Hrithik (22), who were absconding after killing Mahesh Vitthal Bawne (22) near his house at Jattarodi No 3, Indira Nagar, Imambada, on late Wednesday night, and handed over the accused father-son duo to Imambada Police.
Mahesh, his brother Pranit and other relatives were making arrangements for a family function at their house at Jattarodi No 3 on Wednesday night. Shankar Rathod, who also resides in the same locality, came in front of the house of the Bawnes. He started shouting at a girl staying next door as her mother was not returning him money. Mahesh immediately came out and requested him with folded hands not to create scenes as his relatives had gathered at his house for the function. Shankar threatened Mahesh of dire consequences and left the place.

After sometime, Shankar returned with his son Hrithik and thrashed Mahesh ruthlessly. Shankar then took out a knife and stabbed Mahesh injuring him seriously. After Mahesh collapsed, Shankar and Hrithik fled the spot. Mahesh was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, but on the way he succumbed to his injuries.
Imambada Police registered a case under Sections 302, 294 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code against Shankar and Hrithik and arrested them.
