AC coach attendant molests 9-year old girl in train toilet near Nagpur

Nagpur: In a disturbing incident aboard the Bengaluru-Patna Patliputra Express, an AC coach attendant has been accused of molesting a nine-year-old girl in the train toilet, casting a shadow over the safety of passengers. The incident unfolded on Tuesday around 1:30 pm near Butibori. The passengers thrashed the coach attendant before handing him over to Railway Police Force (RPF) at Nagpur

The accused, identified as Mohammad Munnu (30), a native of Chakan, Gaya, Bihar, is a married individual with a four-year-old son and a two-year-old daughter. He has been serving as a coach attendant for the past nine years, specifically in the AC bogie of train number 22352, the Bengaluru-Patna Patliputra Superfast Express. His duty was in B-2 coach of AC-III tier of the train.

During the journey, the victim, her mother, grandmother, and brother were travelling in the AC compartment. Near the Butibori area, the girl went to use the toilet. Munnu allegedly followed her, locked the door, and engaged in indecent behaviour. The victim immediately informed her family about the incident.

The Railway Police have apprehended the accused, and he is now facing legal action. The victim’s mother and grandmother provided crucial information to the authorities. The Railway administration has been urged to furnish comprehensive details about the working conditions of coach attendants, including their deployment on specific trains.

This incident raises concerns about the safety of passengers, and similar incidents have occurred in the past, prompting questions about the efficacy of passenger security measures. The victim and her family are receiving support, and the accused is set to appear in court on Wednesday. Police Inspector Manisha Kashid has confirmed these details, emphasizing the gravity of the situation.
