Nagpur: Local crime branch succeeded in arresting the main accused of robbery committed by midnight in the house of a petrol outlet owner, under the jurisdiction of Jalalkheda police station in the district.
According to a crime branch press note, dated Sept 24, one Madhukarrao Sawarkar owns a petrol outlet at Jalalkheda and looks after it in association with his son. It was Sept 16, he shut down his outlet, and collecting the cash of day long sale of fuel, went home. As the following three days were holidays for banking transactions, he kept at home all the three days’ cash collection accrued by sale of fuel in his outlet, as he was unable to deposit the same with bank.
Finding him alone at home, certain robbers armed with lathis, forced their entry into house by jumping over his backside boundary wall. They robbed him of Rs 7,60,000 cash under threat and also snatched his gold chain and gold ring and fled the spot by closing the main gate of his house from outside.
On the complaint filed by the Madhukarrao Sawarkar, the Jalalkheda police registered a case against unidentified accused. The Nagpur (Rural) S P Dr Arati Singh, taking a serious view of the crime, then ordered local crime branch to investigate the crime.
Accordingly, PI Satish Govekar (Crime) came into action to investigate the crime with the help of other colleagues from police department, and he succeeded in nabbing the accused, namely, Pintu alias Pramod Rewatkar and his accomplice Balram Raut, resident of Nagpur. Balram and Pintu are habitual criminals, while other accomplices are at large. The police is further investigating the case, and also adopting the seizure procedures.
Under the directions of Dr Arati Singh, those who executed the investigation included PI Satish Govekar, PSI Ulhas Bhusari, Purushottam Aherkar, Ajab Singh Jarwar, PHC Pramod bansod, Suresh Parmar, Amol Nagare, Mudassar Jamal, Chetan Raut and a dozen others, said the press note.
