Nagpur: Commandos and officials of Special Protection Group (SPG) visited the Freedom Park Metro Railway station for inspection ahead of the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Nagpur on December 11. A squad of 150 commandos of National Security Guard (NSG) has also arrived in Nagpur. During the inspection, the SPG team discussed arrangements for the programme of Prime Minister with the officials of Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL).
Later, the SPG officials along with Dr Brijesh Dixit, MD, MMRCL, and others took a ride of Majhi Metro from Freedom Park Station up to Khapri for route inspection.
Meanwhile, hectic sprucing up is on at Nagpur Railway station ahead of the visit of the Prime Minister who is scheduled to flag off Vande Bharat Express on Sunday. Local police officials also visited the railway station and inspected the circulating area and Platform No. 1 for mapping out the Prime Minister’s programme.
Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) is giving a facelift to fly-over in front of the railway station. Similarly, the Kingsway is also being given a new top up. The entire route for the Prime Minister is being beautified with a new coat of paint and laying of new paver tiles.
From the security point of view, intelligence sleuths from the State as well Centre have been deployed in high numbers in Nagpur. Apart from them several teams from the special branch and crime branch have been deployed.
Ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit to Nagpur on December 11, top police officials reviewed security arrangements and drew a bandobast plan of around 4,000 security personnel from different units.
Commissioner of Police (CP) Amitesh Kumar, Joint CP Aswati Dorje and Addl CP Crime Navinchandra Reddy visited Nagpur Railway Station, Freedom Park of Nagpur Metro, Airport, Zero Mile of Balasaheb Thackeray Samruddhi Expressway and premises of AIIMS on Tuesday and took review of security arrangements.
CP Kumar is finalising the bandobast of around 4,000 police personnel with support of Quick Response Team, Riot Control Police and Home Guards. Around 1,000 police personnel will be deployed at AIIMS premises for the rally, claimed reports.
