Nagpur: Even before the citizens could come to terms following macabre triple murder in the outskirts of city on Tuesday, another double murder rattled them to the core. Two persons were found stoned to death in Jaitala area. The bodies of the two victims were spotted on Wednesday lying in a vacant place at Bhende Layout, Indraprastha Nagar, Jaitala. The deceased have been identified as Sandeep alias Bunty Aate (26) and Ravi Prakashrao Dule (30), both residents of Gopal Nagar.
It is learnt that a fracas over consuming liquor apparently led to the double murder. However, police are clueless over the exact reason for the murders of Sandeep and Ravi and the identity of the killer(s). It is pertinent to recall that three youths were butchered by a satanic man on Tuesday morning in Hingna area over a paan thela dispute that numbed the senses of citizens and sent shock waves in the police circles.
According to police, the blood-drenched bodies of the two victims were found on Wednesday morning. It is surmised that both were stoned to death. On being informed about the two bodies lying in Jaitala area, teams from Sonegaon and Pratap Nagar Police Stations reached the spot. Additional Commissioner of Police Shrikant Tarwade too reached the crime scene to supervise the investigation. After performing ‘Panchnama,’ bodies of Sandeep and Ravi were sent to GMCH for post-mortem. According to sources, Ravi used to drive auto between Jaitala and Sitabuldi. His relatives told police that they did not know the antecedents of other victim Sandeep Aate and they have never seen him with Ravi.
Police have mounted a full-scale probe to ascertain the exact reason behind the double murder and hunt to nab the offenders.
Police in jurisdiction dispute:
The murders of Sandeep and Ravi could draw Sonegaon and Pratap Nagar police into jurisdiction dispute. The crime could possibly be registered at Pratap Nagar Police Station. However, some area near the spot comes under jurisdiction of Sonegaon police as well as Pratap Nagar. This aspect could lead to jurisdiction imbroglio between the two police stations but could be sorted out rather easily.
