Agrovision to provide sustainable livelihood for the farmers : Nitin Gadkari

Nagpur News: In order to educate, encourage and empower farmers of Vidarbha, fifth edition of Agrovision national expo, free workshops and conference will be organised from December 26 to 29 at the Reshimbagh ground, informed chief patron of Agrovision Nitin Gadkari in a press conference held on Saturday.

Gadkari further said, “The fourth edition of Agrovision had received overwhelming response from farmers all across Maharashtra and other states like Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab. Over three lakh farmers visited Agrovision last time and nearly 60,000 farmers attended 40 workshops organised free of cost and mentored by eminent scientists from various agricultural research institutes, experts from agriculture universities and experienced and successful farmers.”

The moto of Agrovision is to provide sustainable livelihood for the farmers and increasing their income.
To fulfill this dream, this year also free guiding workshop will be conducted by experts. This will cover major five crops of the region like soyabean, paddy, sugarcane, cotton and citrus fruits. Experts will guide the participants about the use of new technology, new farming methods etc for those crops to increase the yield. Pre and post harvest technology, irrigation, livestock, poultry, dairy, goat farming, fisheries, bee keeping etc will be covered in these workshops.

This year’s Agrovision will concentrate to guide farmers about the enhancement of crops productivity in less expenditure, increasing supplementary income from activities like poultry, bee keeping, sericulture, fisheries etc.
The four day expo will showcase latest products and technologies, services in farm sector. Similarly, farmers will be provided detailed information about various schemes of Central and State governments during the expo. Apart from this, leading research and development institutes, agriculture universities and companies from all sectors will also be participating in the expo.

Marketing of agriculture produce is another important topic in agri business. For this, a special one-day conference on supply chain management and cold storage will be organised.

Gadkari also announced that during the expo awards will be awarded to women SHG from rural area and farmers from Vidarbha who have turned agriculture into profitable business.

Former President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam will remain present in the inaugural function. Chief minister, deputy chief minister, members of Parliament, all MLCs and MLAs will be invited for the three day expo.

Saoner MLA Sunil Kedar, RamtekMLA Ashish Jaiswal, convenor of Agrovision Girish Gandhi, chairman of VED Devendra Parekh, co-chairman of advisory council of Agrovision Dr C D Mayee, Chairman of Nagpur Zilla Parishad Sandhya Gotmare, secretary of Agrovision Ravi Boratkar, former chairman of Nagpur Zilla Parishad Ramesh Mankar, Vijay Thombre, Dr Kalantri and others were present in the press conference.
