Nagpur: An employee of AI Airport Services Limited (AISL) (formerly known as Air India Air Transport Services Limited) died after he fell off the trolley at Nagpur’s Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport.
The relatives of the deceased created a scene seeking the exact reason of the death. The airport office witnessed chaos for some time, on Monday. Police have registered a case and started an investigation.
According to reports, Rajesh Kuhikar (55), a resident of Raghuji Nagar, was working as an Operator with AISL. He fell off while driving the trolley and died during treatment at AIIMS. Various theories are being discussed among his colleagues and relatives about cause of his death, but the exact reason is under investigation.
Kuhikar was promoted as Supervisor recently. A person at the post of Supervisor never drives a trolley then how come Kuhikar was asked to drive, questioned his relatives. The incident took place in Operation area which is under the CCTV camera surveillance. Surprisingly, the incident wasn’t recorded by the CCTV camera, revealed reports.
The kin of Rajesh Kuhikar brought his body to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport on Monday to protest his death. The cops had to intervene to settle the issue, and send the body back for the last rites.
Police said Kuhikar was found near the tyre of the trolley. He is said to have suffered a fall and sustained injuries. The front tyre of the trolley most likely rolled over him, leaving his ribs broken and other internal organs damaged. The place where Kuhikar sustained injuries was not covered under CCTVs, leading to more complications.
Apart from foul play behind the death, the protesters were demanding compensation for the victim’s daughters and widow too. The airline representatives have offered to help the family, reports said.
