Ajmer dargah blast: Swami Aseemanand acquitted by NIA court

: Ajmer dargah blast: NIA Court acquits Swami Aseemanand. Aseemanand, a member of the right-wing Hindu group ‘Abhinav Bharat’, has been in jail since December 2010. Swami Aseemanand along with six others- Devendra Gupta, Chandrashekhar Leve, Mukesh Vasani, Bhavesh Patel Rateshwar, Lokesh Sharma and Harshad Solanki have been chargesheeted in the case.

Three of the six have been found guilty by the NIA court. They are Sunil Joshi (deceased), Bhavesh Patel and Devendra Gupta. They were accused of various charges, including hatching the conspiracy, planting and exploding bombs, murdering and spreading communal hatred.

Investigation of the bombing that took place on 11 October 2007, was transferred to the NIA in 2011 and only two FIRs were registered in 2007.

The NIA subsequently filed the chargesheet and accused Aseemanand of masterminding the blast.

The bombing had killed three people and injured over 17 at the Dargah of Khawaja Moinuddin Chishti in Ajmer.
