Nagpur: In a significant action against smuggling of liquors to the city, Ajni police on Friday arrested two Wardha based men. Besides, seizing the vehicle cops recovered illicit liquor worth Rs 4.5 lakh.
The accused have been identified as Junaid Sheik Kareem Sheik (21) and Sanjay alias Lala Sunilrao Barahate (29).

As per the details, the squad of Ajni police comprising PSI S B Champpe, constables Sidhharth, Shailesh and Bhagwati was on patrolling duty few days back when they received a tip-off that a Toyota Corola car MH-02/BG-1670 carrying liquor illegally was approaching the city. The cops then laid a trap near Shri Nagar square. When the vehicle approached the spot, cops asked the driver to stop. However, the driver somehow managed to avert the police and zoomed away. Subsequently, police chased the vehicle and caught it at the next square with boxes of liquors. The accused who managed to flee, were arrested from Wardha on Friday under the relevant sections of the IPC.
The arrest drive was conducted under the supervision of DCP Zone 4, Raj Tilak Roushan and PI Crime Branch Ajit Singh.
