Nagpur: The D-Day arrangements are in place as counting of votes for Nagpur and Ramtek Lok Sabha constituencies will begin at Kalamna Market on the morning of June 4. Collector and Returning Officer Dr Vipin Itankar directed officials to strictly plan the parking, traffic, and security systems in Kalamna area.
Postal ballots will be counted initially, followed by EVM machine vote counting. 10 tables manned by 10 officials each for postal ballot counting have been arranged, and 120 tables designated for EVM machine vote counting.

Officers have been trained and responsibilities assigned for counting of votes. Dr Itankar instructed the officials to take precautions so that there is no fault in their duties. A meeting of all concerned senior officers was held on Sunday under the chairmanship of the Collector at his office for preparations and strict planning for the counting day.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Niketan Kadam, Election Returning Officer of Ramtek Additional Collector Tushar Thombre, Resident Deputy Collector Anup Khande, Sub Divisional Officer Suresh Bagle, and Deputy District Election Officer Praveen Mahire were present at this meeting. As per the instructions of the Election Commission, everyone should carry out their responsibility in a coordinated manner,said CollectorDrItankar.
Polling for Ramtek and Nagpur LokSabha constituencies in Nagpur district was held on April 19, 2024. After voting, EVMs and VVPAT machines are kept under armed police security in the strong room at the new grain shop-cum-godown at Kalmana Market. Counting of votes will be held on June 4, 2024 from 8 am onwards at fruit auction hall No. 3 and 4,Nagpur Agricultural Produce Market Committee at Kalamna.
On the day of counting of votes, for the sake of security and smooth counting process, the entire area of the market yard will be kept under police security, unauthorized persons and vehicles will be banned from entering the market yard Kalmana area. From 8 am on June 3, 2024 to 2 pm on June 5, 2024, the market will be closed and no person or vehicle will be allowed to enter unless they have an official identity card, transport pass, prior permission of the Election Commission of India.
Priority to complete a counting round without break:
In any situation, the designated officials of each counting table should emphasise on accuracy and timely counting of each round. The data received by the supervisor of the concerned table should be immediately passed on to the Observer, instructed Collector Dr Vipin Itankar.
He asked the officials to give clear instructions to ensure that there is no break in the counting process. A training session for the employees and staff deployed for election work for Nagpur and Ramtek Lok Sabha General Election counting was held. Dr Itankar addressed them at Dr Vasantrao Deshpande hall. Election Observers Vipul Bansal, Rajiv Ranjan Sinha, Mahesh Kumar Das, Ramtek Election Returning Officer Additional Collector Tushar Thombare, Resident Deputy Collector Anup Khande,Deputy District Election Officer Praveen Mahire were present for the training.
