Altaf H Vali duped of Rs 3.56 lakh by a tricky customer in camera deal

A trickster systematically duped a renowned business firm of the city to the tune of Rs 3.56 lakh. The accused fraudster has been booked and being searched by cops.

The complainant Adnan Anwar Vali (42), resident of House No. 150, Faroom Villa, Shantinagar, runs the famous Altaf H Vali Showroom in Electronics Market in Sitabuldi area. Between 15.3.2016 and 17.3.2016, Adnan received calls from mobile phones 7030107045 and 7069991079 and the caller identified himself as Ashok Jain. After a glib talking and winning trust of Adnan, the accused Ashok Jain ordered five Nikon D-3200 cameras each costing Rs 35,660 totalling Rs 1,78,300 and five Nikon D-3300 each costing 35,660 totalling Rs 1,78,300. The accused purchased a total of ten cameras worth Rs 3,56,600 and in return gave a Demand Draft (DD) of the same amount that later turned out to be a bogus one. Thus the accused Ashok Jain duped the firm Altaf H Vali to the tune of Rs 3.56 lakh in the camera deal.

Sitabuldi PSI V R Wagh, based on Adnan’s complaint, has booked the accused Ashok Jain under Sections 420, 471 of IPC and searching him.
