It’s a satire on the ‘online deterioration’ of contemporary education system. School education is back to normal. But things are way messed up at Nagpur University. Sincere students and aware parents are fed up with the chaos going on in Nagpur University over upcoming exams, ongoing resistance to offline exams by some specific groups and lethargic approach of the Universities’ Exam department. Association of Coaching Institutes had organized a press conference to present their perspective on this burning issue.

For student, every exam is a step towards his bright future. Marks in exams depicts the knowledge acquired and eventually these marks play a significant role in making the student employable, this is what we all have been observing. But, online exams have made the exam marks meaningless. Even though students are getting even out of marks by hook and crook, by ill-use of available technology. These marks are going to be useless eventually because further in career there is no other option than proving the caliber in entrance and competitive exams, says Virag Mitkari, an academician with experience of more than two decades. During Covid period, school colleges conducted online exams ; but did any competitive exams happened online ? In fact, have you seen any of National or International Board/Body conducting online exams ? His question stunned the listeners. Due to the frail scenario of online exams, students have left taking studies seriously. Why would an average student put his efforts in studies when he knows that its easy to pass the exam even without knowing the syllabus and names of the subjects for which he is appearing exam for ? Rahul Rai explained how these online exams are going to inculcate supineness in youth and then it is to be thought by parents and universities that how much you would expect from this sort of youth.

Students from Kindergarten to HSSC studied most part of their syllabus online and still they given offline exams successfully conducted by their schools. Is Nagpur University less capable than even schools ? Are university students naïve even than school kids ? asked Jagdish Agrawal. The student unions backed by different political parties are opposing offline exams just for cheap publicity. It should be always remembered that a NU student has give all other exams, entrance exams, competitive exams offline. On this build up, opposing offline exams in NU or if NU conducts its exams offline, why wouldn’t it be seen as a conspiracy to pull back Nagpur’s youth from the national level competition. University is expected to raise the bar when it comes to quality education. Degradation from our own benchmarks and mockery of students’ future must stop. Universities of Maharashtra are already lagging due to policy paralysis. Universities must at least avoid spoiling generations, speakers concluded on this note.
