Nagpur: The city police continued their crackdown on narcotics in the Second Capital of the State. In the early hours of Friday, the sleuths of the Anti-Narcotics Cell of Nagpur Crime Branch arrested a 26-year-old drug peddler from the Nandanvan area and seized 12 grams of MD drug.
The accused has been identified as Sheikh Shehbaz Sheikh Israel (26), a resident of Shivankar Slums.
According to police sources, the officials of the Anti-Narcotics Cell were on patrol duty on Friday when they intercepted Shehbaz, who appeared suspicious to them. Upon checking, the cops found 12.03 grams of MD in his possession. During interrogation, Shehbaz told the cops that he had bought the drug from one Shobhi, who lives in the Pachpaoli area.
Subsequently, the police handed over the accused and the seized material to Nandanvan Police.
An offence under Sections 8(C) and 22(B) of the NDPS Act was registered against the accused duo. Further investigation is ongoing.
