Nagpur: Two persons were attacked by a gang of six anti-socials in the Sitabuldi area over an old-rivalry in the wee hours of Sunday, police said. Sahil Anand Mirakpal (22), a resident of Plot No. 21, Sham Nagar, Hudkeshwar and his friend Mayur Vijay Sonwane (21), a resident of Vitthal Nagar, Hudkeshwar were seriously injured in the attack.
According to police, the two were waiting for a food parcel near Gulshan Plaza hotel in Sitabuldi area at 1 am. The accused persons had a fight with the victims in a beer bar last week. On Sunday night one of the accused identified the victims when they were waiting for the parcel and called his accomplices. The eight-member gang with two juveniles attacked the victims with steel rod and sharp-edged weapons.
When the youths collapsed on the ground, the accused sped away from the spot. The accused have been identified as Sumeet Shankarlal Yadav (25) and Yash Charandas Umredkar (19), both residents of Jai Hind Nagar, Mankapur; Karan Baban Gaur (23), a resident of Siraspeth; Vijay Balram Jaiswal (22), a resident of New Shukrawari; Vipin Jitendra Shirke (16), a resident of Mahal, Kotwali and Amol Ashokrao Shisikar (24), a resident of Piwali Marbat. A case under Sections 143, 147, 148, 149 and 326 of IPC was registered by Sitabuldi police.
