Ash dam breach: Bawankule’s efforts bear fruits, poor people given aid cheques

Nagpur: Due to the bursting of the ash dam in Koradi, the houses of the citizens of five villages were damaged. Efforts made by former Energy Minister and BJP MLC Chandrasekhar Bawankule to provide immediate assistance to these damaged citizens were successful. MahaGenco on Wednesday gave relief cheques to the people who lost their houses. These citizens met Bawankule and thanked him for his efforts.

As the ash dam of Koradi Thermal Power Station burst due to heavy rain, water containing ash entered five villages of the area namely Khasala, Masala, Khairi, Kavtha, and Suradevi. As soon as he got the information about the incident, Bawankule inspected the area along with the Sub-Divisional Officer, Tehsildar, Chief Engineer of Koradi Thermal Power Station and other officials. Bawankule had demanded immediate compensation for the loss of houses and agriculture.

After that a meeting was held at the office of the thermal power plant in Koradi. It was demanded that the citizens whose houses were damaged should be provided assistance as soon as possible. Apart from this, Bawankule had met Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and requested them to provide immediate assistance to the affected citizens and farmers. Due to his efforts, today 13 poor citizens got a cheque from MahaGenco for house damages ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 80,000. These citizens met Bawankule and thanked him.

Aid to farmers soon:
Bawankule further said that panchnama of the loss of farmers is going on and they will also get help soon. Today the citizens who lost their houses got help. Keeping in mind that there will be no crops in agriculture for the next three years, they have demanded compensation from Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Apart from this, MLA Bawankule said that they have demanded a high-level inquiry into how this dam burst.
