Maharashtra Assembly was adjourned for the entire day on Tuesday amid Opposition pandemonium over farmers’ issue.
The House, after a brief adjournment, started proceedings after at 1 pm. Revenue Minister Eknathrao Khadse sought Speakers’ permission to start discussion on drought situation in the State to which the Speaker granted his permission. First, Malkapur MLA began speaking on the issue. However, the Opposition benches continued uproar demanding announcement of relief package to farmers. NCP member Chhagan Bhujbal demanded the discussion under Rule 97 and package be announced. The Speaker directed the rampaging Opposition members to take their seats and participate in the discussion. However, the chaotic members refused to relent and stood their ground in the Well of the House raising slogans. The Speaker Haribhau Bagde later adjourned the House for the entire day.
