Nagpur: At 45.3 degree Celsius, Brahmapuri in Vidarbha was the hottest place in the world. It was followed by Chandrapur at second spot with maximum temperature at 45.2 degrees Celsius. Akola was the third hottest place in the world at 44.9 degrees Celsius. The entire region is reeling under intense heat waves.
However, Nagpur’s maximum temperature at 43.2 on Wednesday was lower than that recorded in the city in the past few days. Still, it was 2.4 degrees Celsius above normal. The minimum temperature in Nagpur, however, rose to 28.4 degrees Celsius. It indicated an upward departure by 2.9 degrees Celsius as compared to minimum temperature on Tuesday. The minimum temperature was 4.1 degrees above normal in Nagpur on Wednesday.
With rising mercury, the roadside shops of sugarcane juice, lemon juice, ice-cream shops, soft drinks vendors are making a brisk business in Nagpur and elsewhere across Vidarbha region. Coolers and air-conditioners are on for most of the time.
The Regional Meteorological Centre has predicted thunderstorms with lightning at one or two places in Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, Amravati, Akola,Yavatmal, Buldana, and Washim districts on Thursday. Similar is the prediction for Friday in Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Yavatmal, and Washim districts.
