Nagpur: Opposing the Government’s move of privatization of public sector banks, the members of Eastern Maharashtra Bank Employees Association (EMBEA) organized one-day Dharna at Samvidhan Chowk on Tuesday. The dharna, commenced from 11am will end at 5 pm.
EMBEA General Secretary Jaiwant Gurway said that over 10 lakh employees of various banks representing 9 bank unions have given the call for a two day continuous strike on December 16 and 17.
The strike will be held under the banner of the United Forum of Bank Unions. We are demanding withdrawal of the anti-banking and anti-people bill which will be tabled in the parliament during the ongoing winter session, said Gurway.
“As a preparatory step and to press our demand, we have organized a one-day Dharna on December 7 at Samvidhan Chowk, Nagpur,” he said.
