Basketball will be included once again in the rural sports competitions: CM

IMG_3290Nagpur: In another positive development, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis has assured that Basketball tournaments will be included once again in the rural sports competitions.

He said this after inaugurating the State-level Inter-school Basket Ball Championships at Shivaji Nagar Basket Ball ground.

The Chairman of this programme was Rajya Sabha Member Ajay Sancheti, while the guests or honour included Mayor Praveen Datke, Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar, Chief Executive Officer Shivajirao Jondhale and Shiv Chatrapati Awardee Shatrugan Gokhale.

There is a move to make a conducive atmosphere for the development of sports in the state. The state government will provide all support to help sportsmen to make sports as their career. There is also a review done to identify, demark and develop various fields for various sports claimed the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Many reputed Basketball players have been incorporated for these championships. In order to make a conducive atmosphere for the development of sports, the implementation of strong sports policy will be implemented at the earliest said the Chief Minister.

Rajya Sabha Member Ajay Sancheti and Mayor of Nagpur Praveen Datke encouraged the participants and wished them best of luck for their games.

The District Sports Officer Vijay Santan had made the introductory speech. On this occasion Journalist Mahesh Updeo of Samna Newspaper was felicitated by the Chief Minister for his contributions to sports for the past 30 years. Rucha Aurangabadkar had administered the oath to the players. The programme was conducted by Utara Patwardhan while the vote of thanks was offered by Deputy Director of Sports Subhash Rewatkar.

Those who were prominently present on the occasion included Corporator Sandeep Joshi, Deputy Director of Sports Education Manik Tosre, Corporator Vishaka Maind and other sports lovers.
