Nagpur: The formation of the Mahayuti Government in Maharashtra after the Assembly elections has intensified the ongoing war of words between the ruling alliance and the opposition. In the latest political development, Nagpur Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who recently raised concerns over the increase in voter numbers following the defeat of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in the Assembly elections.
Bawankule challenged Rahul Gandhi to contest the 2029 Assembly elections from the Kamptee constituency, declaring that he himself would contest against Gandhi and ensure his defeat. The Minister made these remarks while inaugurating a cricket tournament in Pimpri-Chinchwad, where he also addressed the media.
BJP’s historic victory in Delhi Assembly elections
Bawankule also took the opportunity to highlight the BJP’s landslide victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, where the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) suffered a major setback, and the Congress failed to secure even a single seat. He emphasized that the public has reposed complete faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, leading to BJP’s dominance across 75% of India’s territory.
Slamming Congress for its electoral failures, Bawankule stated, “Congress has lost in Delhi purely due to its own incompetence. Now, instead of introspection, they will blame the EVMs.” Taking a veiled dig at Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut, he added, “Soon, the so-called morning spokesperson will start making excuses.”
Bawankule’s counter to rumours of Eknath Shinde’s discontent
Addressing ongoing speculation about Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s dissatisfaction within the Mahayuti alliance, Bawankule dismissed the claims and launched a sharp attack on Uddhav Thackeray. “Eknath Shinde is not upset; he is a leader who has made sacrifices. The Mahayuti Government is stable and will continue to function smoothly. In fact, I am confident that this government will last for the next 25 years in Maharashtra.”
With tensions rising between political factions, Bawankule’s challenge to Rahul Gandhi and his strong defence of the BJP-led alliance set the stage for an intense political showdown in the coming years.
