BCCI Cricket: Vidarbha girls, boys record big wins

Nagpur: Aarohi Bambode struck an unbeaten 105 off 76 deliveries with 15 boundaries and shared a mammoth 196-run partnership with her opening partner Akshara Itankar (66, 49 balls, 4×9) as Vidarbha thrashed Nagaland by 145 runs in their Group B match in the Women’s U-19 T20 Trophy on Sunday.

At the Gurugram Cricket Ground (SRNCC), Aarohi and Akshara went on a rampage after Vidarbha captain Tanvi Mendhe won the toss and elected to bat first. The duo missed out on posting a 200-run stand by just four runs as Akshara was dismissed on the last ball of the innings.

Vidarbha bowlers then took over and restricted Nagaland to 51-9, thereby ensuring a big win and a big boost to their Net Run Rate.

Brief scores: Vidarbha 196- 1 in 20 overs (Aarohi Bambode 105 not out, Akshara Itankar 66). Nagaland 51-9 in 20 overs (Yashshri Soley 3-8, Riya Baniya 2-12). Result: Vidarbha won by 145 runs.

Vidarbha U-19 boys posted their second successive victory in Group B, crushing Arunachal Pradesh by six wickets in Vinoo Mankad Trophy at the Air Force Complex Ground, Palam (II), New Delhi, on Sunday.

Vidarbha bowlers, spearheaded by Aditya Titarmare (4- 21) and Yash Titre (3-25), dismissed Arunachal for only 90 runs in 31.1 overs. In spite of losing Tushar Kadu to the first ball of the innings, Vidarbha knocked off the runs in only 23 overs, losing four wickets. Shree Choudhary (31) and Tushar Suryavanshi (33) were the main contributors with the bat.

Brief scores: Arunachal Pradesh 90 all out in 31.1 overs (Aditya Titarmare 4-21, Yash Titre 3-25, Devansh Thakkar 2- 20). Vidarbha 91-4 in 23 overs (Shree Choudhary 31, Tushar Suryavanshi 33; Naman Jain 3-27). Result: Vidarbha won by six wickets.
