In what could be mentioned as an act of desperation, some unknown thieves looted Betel-nuts worth lakhs of rupees in Kalamna area. According to police sources, some unidentified persons did some mischief with a Betel nuts trader in Kalamna area on May 18, 2015 worth 1, 75,000/- (Rupees One Lakhs Seventy Five Thousand).
When the betel nut trader identified as Paresh Mahendrabhai Kimtiwani aged 30 years and a resident of Raghuvanshi Nagar, Gujrati Colony, Bharat Nagar Nagpur has lodged a case against the truck driver identified as Naushad Alam aged 31 years and a resident of Plot No 26/5, K C Road, Kolkata.
According to police sources, Paresh Kimtiwani had purchased Betel nuts from Kolkata. This good of betel nut was brought to Nagpur by truck driver Naushad Alam from Kolkata. Sources claimed that the truck driver Naushad Alam had misappropriated betel nuts of 1250 kilograms. When the Betel nuts trader realized the shortage of the goods, he lodged a complaint in Kalamna Police Station.
Based on the complaint lodged by the victim, Police Sub-Inspector Dere registered a case under section 407 of Indian Penal Code and is investigating further.
