“The  due process of election is followed, like  a name  is proposed, which is seconded by two others, and if only one name is suggested, the person is declared elected for the post. But, there is no contest as such,” as per Akhil Bhartiya Prachar Pramukh of RSS Manmohan Vaidya.

He said some new people are generally inducted into the team during the triennial conclave of ABPS.
According to rumours doing the rounds Bhaiyaji Joshi who completes 6 years as General Secretary could be replaced by Dattatreya Hosabale who is supposed to be close to Modi. But this speculation is scotched by RSS sources in Nagpur saying “only if there are health reasons is a G.S. replaced and Bhaiyaji has no such issues.” He did not deny that Hosabale is close to Modi but emphasized that the PM will have no role to play in the Sangh elections.

About a senior RSS leader, like Bhaiyaji acting as conduit between the Modi Govt. and Sangh by being in Delhi, ‘such an arrangement is already in place’ we were told.

Though many RSS and BJP leaders will be attending the conclave the core group of Sangh workers are those who devote their entire life to RSS and take a vow of celibacy and shun family life like the Roman Catholic brothers of Vatican. They do not even live at their homes anymore and shift to RSS quarters. It is from such a pool of dedicated workers that many BJP leaders emerge though they do not have to follow the strict code of RSS of conduct.

Do BJP members not have to resign from membership of RSS? NT asked.

“No, there is no problem in RSS workers joining any political party (BJP in 100% cases)  in their public lives, Sangh has nothing to do with their political life. They come here as simple RSS workers” it was pointed out.

Amit Shah, BJP President and Rajnath Singh, Home Minister too are expected to be there along with other Ministers who can be spared from Delhi since Modi is also away from India.

The triennial meeting of ABPS is held in Nagpur, while one meeting each is held at a northern and southern venue in the country every alternate year, the sources added.
