“Bharosa Cell” brings hope to distressed women, children

“Bharosa Cell”, the cell, brain-child of City Commissioner of Police Dr K Venkatesham, got off to a start in Nagpur recently. First of its kind experimentation to help woman in a more comprehensive manner ranging from legal assistance, psychological counseling and police help, the Cell is headed by Woman Police Inspector Shubhada Sankhe.

The Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, while launching the “Bharosa Cell,” said that the Cell will provide assistance to women and children who are victims of any crime. “The State Police will start “Bharosa Cell’ in all the districts. The formation of Bharosa Cell is the need of the hour to address the problems of the victims (women and children). Such Cell will provide all assistance including psychiatric help and legal advice to them,” Fadnavis had after the inauguration of Bharosa Cell of Nagpur police.

The Chief Minister further said, “The nature of crime and violence in the society is changing due to increasing use of Information Technology by criminals. There is a need for fear of law. In this changing scenario the police department should also use IT in its working,” Fadnavis said.

The “Bharosa Cell” is set up at near Subhash Nagar T-Point, beside BSNL Office. The victimized women have to fill up a form with all details while lodging a complaint. The victimized woman are provided guidance and counslling free of cost.
