The government has announced measures for the development of Andhra Pradesh, including arranging Rs 15,000 crore for the capital city’s development in the current and future fiscal years. Presenting the Union Budget 2024-25, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman stated that the government would facilitate special financial support for the state’s capital city.

The Centre has allocated over Rs 3 lakh crore for schemes benefiting women and girls and is committed to the completion and financing of the Polavaram irrigation project. A backward region grant has also been announced for three districts of Andhra Pradesh.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), a key ally of the BJP, has consistently protested for special category status for Andhra Pradesh since 2014. This status provides regions with special assistance in the form of tax benefits and financial support for development.
