Bike-borne men throw stones at Navi Mumbai church, no arrest yet

Mumbai/Nagpur: A day after bike-borne assailants attacked a church in Navi Mumbai’s Saint George Catholic Church, police is yet to make any arrests on Sunday.

The CCTV footage of the cameras installed on the church premises showed the miscreants hurling stones at the church. However, their faces were reportedly covered in masks.

“Last night around 1:30 am, three people came on a bike. They were wearing masks, they threw stones at the statue of St George which was kept in a glass casing. The police have registered a case,” said Abraham Mathai, Former Minorities Commission Chairman.

A First Information Report or FIR has been registered against unknown people in Khandeshwar in New Panvel.

The security around the area has been strengthened after the incident. An FIR against unknown people have also been registered by the police in Khandeshwar.
