Nagpur: Rash and negligent driving by a motorcyclist claimed the life of a teenage boy near Chhaoni flyover, old Katol Naka Square in Sadar area. The motorcyclist sped away fearing arrest.
Identified as Vedant Ashish Nandanwar (19), the deceased was a resident of Rachna Srushti Apartment, K T Nagar, Katol Road. Vedant was going on his moped around 9.45 am on Saturday. Near Old Katol Naka, a speeding motorcyclist coming from the opposite direction hit Vedant’s moped. Vedant fell off the moped and suffered serious head injuries. The biker fled the spot fearing arrest. Vedant was rushed to Kingsway Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries late Sunday evening.
After recording the statement of Bharati Ashish Nandanwar (45), mother of the deceased, Sadar Police registered a hit and run case under Sections 279, 338, 304(A) of the Indian Penal Code, read with Section 119, 134 and 177 of the Motor Vehicle Act, and launched a search for the accused biker.
