Nagpur: In a shocking incident, a bike lifter met a brutal end as he was hacked to death by five assailants under the influence of alcohol at Vrindavan Layout in Wanadongri in Nagpur. MIDC Police have arrested four of the accused, while one remains at large.
The victim, identified as Kunal Sunil Kanhere (23), hailed from IC Chowk, Hingna Road. Known for his involvement in motorcycle thefts and petty crimes, Kunal’s life was tragically cut short in the altercation.
The arrested accused have been named as Sandeep alias Chintu Kunnilal Bopche (23), Ayush Umesh Meshram (21), Krish Raja Hathibend (19), and Kartik Hemraj Sursahut (19), with one person named Aditya still evading capture.
According to police, the accused, along with a minor, indulged in a liquor-fuelled party on Thursday evening. Kunal, known for his confrontational nature, instigated and verbally abused the accused during the gathering. In a fit of rage, the assailants brutally attacked Kunal and smashed his head with a boulder. They crushed his head with the boulder and killed him on the spot. MIDC Police arrested the four accused, although Aditya remains at large.
The arrested accused were presented in court on Friday afternoon, with three being remanded to police custody (PCR) and the minor sent to a reform home. The victim’s brother, Ritesh Kanhere (21), provided a statement to the police, leading to the registration of a case under Sections 302, 143, 147, and 149 of the Indian Penal Code against the accused.
