Nagpur: Tension prevailed in the TV tower area of Seminary hills when a bike-borne man was crushed to death by a speeding Star bus on Wednesday. A large number of locals gathered at the spot following the accident and blocked the road. DCP Zone II Vinita S rushed the spot and managed to pacify the agitating locals, police officials said. The deceased was identified as Dinesh Hiralal Sharma (47), a resident of Surendragadh.
A police official said that Dinesh operates a paan shop in the Cotton market. He leaves behind a large family including two daughters and a 4-year-old son. The accident occured when Sharma was returning home on a two-wheeler. A speeding Star bus came behind and hit the motorcycle.
Sharma fell on the road and sustained grievous head injuries in the mishap. He died instantaneously due to severe blood loss, police officials said. Sharma’s family members and locals rushed to the spot and called an ambulance. As the ambulance did not reach the spot on time, the family started protesting on the road.
A local resident said that one of the daughters of Sharma was missing for a few-days and suspected a conspiracy in the accident.
DCP Vinita rushed to the spot and pacified the agitating locals. Soon after, the body was sent to Mayo hospital for post-mortem. An offence under provisions of IPC and MVA was registered by Gittikahdan police.
