Nagpur: A young woman committed suicide after falling victim to blackmailing and broken marriage promise by her boyfriend, under the jurisdiction of Ajni Police Station.
According to police, the 24-year-old woman got entangled in a love affair with Harshal Sagar Kotangale (27), a resident of Jaripatka. The romantic relationship turned into a nightmare for her, when Harshal, who was already married, took obscene photographs of her. He later turned down his marriage promise. When confronted, Harshal resorted to blackmailing and threatened to make her pictures public. She took the drastic step by hanging herself inside her locked bedroom.

Her brother lodged a formal complaint with the Ajni police against Harshal. The police said that the woman had been married in 2016 and had a son, but due to conflicts with her husband, she left the home two years ago. She had been residing with her parents and brother in the Ajni Police Station area for the past year, working at Trillium Mall near Medical Square.
It was during this time that she engaged in a relationship with Harshal who had promised her to marry her after giving divorce to his wife. He frequently visited her home and also borrowed money from her.
A case under Sections 306 and 506 of IPC was registered by Ajni Police against Harshal Kotangale.
