Bogus bank employee dupes lady doctor by seeking ATM card details

Nagpur: A trickster pretending to be a bank employee dug out details of ATM Card from a lady doctor and later withdrew Rs 24,000 from her account fraudulently on Thursday.

The victim, Dr Malti Umesh Khade (53), resident of Plot No. 499, ‘Gharkul 8,’ Lendrapark, Ramdsapeth, received calls on her cellphone from 8521463577 and 8521325303 between 3.58 pm and 4.45 pm on Thursday. The caller identified himself as a bank employee and asked Dr Malti Khade to divulge details of her ATM Card. Believing the caller as bank employee, Dr Khade disclosed the vital details of her card. But to her bewilderment, Dr Khade received an SMS informing her that Rs 23,900 have been withdrawn from her bank account. The bogus bank employee cheated her systematically and put her to a loss of Rs 23,000.

Based on the complaint lodged by Dr Malti Khade, who is working at Daga Hospital, Sitabuldi PSI Karmalwar registered an offence against the fake bank employee under Sections 419, 420 of IPC and 66(C)(D) of Information and Technology Act and probing the matter further.
