On September 13, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad organized a protest at Town Hall in Bengaluru without obtaining any permission. The protesters were carrying a Ganapati idol during the demonstration. To ensure that the idol was not damaged while detaining the protesters, the police safely kept the idol and took the protesters into custody. Afterward, the police performed proper rituals and immersed the Ganapati idol respectfully.

This information has been verified and made public by various fact-checking websites and national news channels.

The MPCC, however, said that for political gain, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde made a blatantly false statement during his response to the media, claiming that the Karnataka Government and police had halted the Bappa festival and seized the idol, thereby attempting to incite religious tensions during the festive period.

Similarly, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis spread false information through his X (Twitter) handle, blaming the Congress Government in Karnataka. Additionally, BJP MLA Nitesh Rane circulated incorrect information, trying to create religious discord and social unrest.

In response, Advocate Raviprakash Jadhav, head of the legal department of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress, has submitted a written complaint to the Senior Police Inspector at Colaba Police Station, demanding that a case be filed and strict action be taken against them.

The Congress party said as elections are approaching, leaders from the ruling party are consistently spreading fake news and rumours to create religious and caste-based tensions in the State for political benefit. The Congress party has urged the police to take serious note of this and take necessary action, as these actions are disrupting social peace.
