In a shocking incident, a 52 year old widow was murdered in a broad daylight in her house in Vidya Nagar area of Nandanvan on Friday. The deceased woman has been identified as Ramabai Madavi. She was sleeping in her bedroom when the assailants barged into the house and attacked her sharp edged weapon. Her husband Anandrao Madavi passed away few years back.
Ramabai stayed with her son who ferries NMC water tankers. Both his sisters were married some time back.
On Friday afternoon some identified elements sneaked into her house when Ramabai was alone. She was inflicted with severe injuries. Meanwhile, one of the neigbours spotted Ramabai injured and bleeding, and informed the police. Ramabai was reportedly breathing when the cops reached the spot. She was rushed to a nearby private hospital where the doctor pronounced her dead. Her body was sent for postmortem.
Police have registered the murder case against unidentified accused and launched the manhunt.
Police sources said the involvement of someone closer to the family could not be ruled out as the police found 2 plates of refreshments near the kitchen.
