Budget 2022: Govt’s mega push for digital education

In a major push for digital education, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in her Budget 2022 speech on Tuesday announced a host of measures for the Covid-19 pandemic-hit sector.

A digital university will be developed to provide access to students for world-class quality education with ISTE standards, said FM Sitharaman.

“One class, one TV channel’ program of PM eVIDYA will be expanded from 12 to 200 TV channels. This will enable all states to provide supplementary education in regional languages for classes 1 to 12 to make up for loss of formal education due to Covid-19 pandemic,” announced FM Sitharaman.

States will be encouraged to revise syllabi of agricultural universities to meet the needs of natural, zero-budget and organic farming, modern-day agriculture, she said.

Pointing out that children, mostly in govt schools, have lost two years of formal education, she said high quality e-content will be developed in regional languages.
