Nagpur: A bullion (Sarafa) trader was attacked and inflicted injuries by a group of 7-8 miscreants including General Secretary of BJP Yuva Morcha on Tuesday night. The incident was reported from Pratap Nagar area of city. No arrests have been made in the case so far. Apart from the attack on the bullion trader, seven incidents of looting, extortion, thefts were reported in the area within five hours of Tuesday night in which eight persons including a woman teacher were made victims.
The bullion trader Ravi Lolge, resident of Trimurti Nagar, runs his shop named Tuljai Jewellers on Pratap Nagar Ring Road. On Tuesday, around 8.30 pm, Ravi along with friend Pramod Umredkar was seating in his shop. Around same time, two youths named Darshan and Deshi came near the shop on a motorcycle and called Ravi outside his shop since CCTV was installed there. As soon as Ravi came out of his shop, the accused Darshan and Deshi started beating him. Ravi anyhow caught hold of Darshan but Desh managed to flee the spot. Ravi immediately informed the Pratap Nagar police about the incident. Hearing the shouts of Ravi, nearby people gathered at the spot but police did not reach even after half an hour.
Meanwhile, the Khamla Zone General Secretary of BJP Yuva Morcha Ashu Jethani and his 7-8 accomplices reached the spot in an Innova car and attacked Ravi. The group of miscreants inflicted bloody injuries on him. However, when the gathered people rushed to save Ravi, the attackers fled the spot. When police did not reach the spot, Ravi himself and his friend Pramod Umredkar went to Pratap Nagar Police Station and lodged a complaint in this regard. Ravi was forced to sit in the police station for non-availability of any vehicle and later sent for medical examination. Thereafter, police reached the spot and conducted the preliminary investigation.
The next morning, police registered a case of rioting, beating and threatening against the accused.
The City President of BJP Yuva Morcha Bunty Kukde said that action will be taken against Ashu Jethani if he is found guilty.
