Three including a jewellery shop burgled
Nagpur News : Three including a jeweller shop was burgled on Friday and decamped with cash and valuables worth Rs 3.4 lakhs from Gittikhadan, Yashodhara Nagar and Wadi police station areas.
Within half-an-hour, burglars made away with cash Rs 10,000 and gold ornaments worth Rs 73,000 from Geeta Patre’s residence at CPWD quarter in Gittikhadan. Around 3 pm, Patre had gone to a neighbour’s house when the thieves struck into her house quietly. When Patre returned, she found the lock broken open and the cupboard kept in the bedroom was ransacked. She immediately alerted Gittikhadan police. Police said that the thieves seem to have kept a watch on the house. Interestingly, though the incident took place in daylight, none of the neighbours heard any noise.
“It hardly took fifteen minutes for the burglars without any disturbance to the neighbours,” said police adding that neither finger prints nor any clues were found from the spot.
At Wadi, thieves targeted a jewellery shop owned by Sudhakar Ninawe at Samrat Ashok Nagar on Friday night. Ninawe had last locked his shop on Wednesday evening around 8.30 pm.
Around 3 am, Ninanwe received his friend’s call on his cell phone who informed that the shutter of his shop is slighly open. On reaching the shop, he found the shutter was bent was lifted and the shop was ransacked. The burglars had decamped with silver and other jewellery worth Rs 1.88 lakhs. Luckily, the gold ornaments were saved as Ninawe had taken them with him to home.
Wadi residents alleged poor patrolling in the area. They claimed that cops did not pay heed to their requests for more police patrolling as there have been increase in the burglary incidents in the area.
At Yashodhara Nagar, Arvind Kumar Singh, a resident of Shiv Nagar in Kalamna, returned home after three days of vacation just to find his house burgled. Singh suffered a loss of cash Rs 22,000 and gold ornaments worth Rs 73,000.
