Nagpur: A Byramji Town resident has complained to Nagpur Municipal Commissioner and Nagpur Police Commissioner alleging that the ongoing construction activity carried out next to his house under the name Wadhwani Bliss is causing noise pollution in the area.
In his complaint, the 70-year old A F Banaji informed that the construction activity with all the accompanying noise pollution starts anytime after 6 am and carries on till late in the night, like after 11 pm and sometimes even till 2 am. The person in charge, Rakesh Hemrajani, had initially assured us that no noise pollution activity would be carried out except between 8 am and 8 pm, but in vain, Banaji wrote in his complaint.
Banaji further added that the final cause for calling the Police Control Room arose yesterday because of the non-stop flouting of the agreement and extending the banging and slab laying activities as both complainant and his wife had been suffering from high fever.
Banaji has also mentioned that if anything happened to him or his spouse, Rakesh Hemrajani should be held responsible.
“We the two senior citizens are staying alone by ourselves and after this complaint, if either of us or our property is hurt or damaged in any way, the police should hold Rakesh Hemrajani as directly responsible, even though the perpetrators might be anyone else and he personally threatened us to set us right,” he wrote.
When contacted, Rakesh Hemrajani elaborated that due to blazing summer heat the labourers, who are brought from Howrah and Chhattisgarh are grappling to work here. Some even fell ill due to scorching heat. Under such circumstances, we can’t ask them to work continuously as it ultimately puts their lives at risk. To compensate, we slightly changed their work schedule hence, the inconvenience faced by Banaji.
However, I want to highlight some issues too! Banaji often hurls abuses at our labourers and flashes a gun at them. He has made several attempts to halt our construction work, but we never tried to file any complaint, as we don’t want to bother any senior citizen, Hemrajani said.
