Academic Council to meet on March 4
Nagpur Today: The meeting of Academic Council of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University is slated to be held at the Convocation Hall on March 4, 2014 late in the afternoon. The issue of cancellation of the affiliations of 172 colleges (completely closed) out of 250 banned colleges is said to be taken up during the meeting. A move to arrive at a consensus over this issue is expected during the meeting.
Complete attendance of all the members of the council is expected as against the boycott of the last two meetings. The difference of opinion and disagreements among the various Councils and the RTMNU administration caused the members of the council to boycott the last two meeting.
The Vice-Chancellor of RTMNU Vikas Sapkal had indicated punitive action against the members of the Council. The Council too had called a retaliatory action against the Vice Chancellor. The members of the Academic Council had taken back the boycott of the Council Meeting unless the administration of RTMNU implements and executes the decisions of the Academic Council.
Meanwhile, according to the directives of the High Court asking the Members of the Academic Council and the administration of RTMNU to sit and discuss the pending issues amicably and revert back to the court with their decisions.
The High Court has asked for various data pertaining to the Colleges, Teachers, Students and all such information from the RTMNU in order to take a proper decision about the various stakeholders. This data will be placed before the members of the Academic Council Meeting slated to be held on March 4, 2014.
There is a possibility of a favourable decision being taken over the issue of the students of the banned colleges (for the last 10 years) from appearing in the examinations and in removing the name of the decade old colleges from the list of banned colleges.
The punitive action over the members by the RTMNU Administration will be bone of contention during the Academic Council Meeting on March 4, 2014.
