The prospective candidates aiming to grace the parliament post this biggest festival of democracy led their way to polling booths on Thursday along with the sea of their supporters. As Nagpur went to vote, the poll stations witnessed the likes of city’s political heavyweights who cheered up the crowd as they moved into the confines of their voting space.
Leaders like serving MP and Congress candidate Vilas Muttemwar, BJP candidate Nitin Gadkari, BSP’s nominee Dr. Mohan Gaikwad, state BJP President Devendra Fadnavis, city Congress chief Vikas Thakre, Congress leader Anees Ahmed, MLA Deenanath Padole, Mayor Anil Sole, MLA Krishna Khopde and other bigwigs were seen flaunting their fingers tipped with poll ink at their respective polling booths.
Sitting MP Vilas Muttemwar moved along with his wife Chhaya and other family members into West Nagpur booth and confidently greeted voters after exercising his right.
Former BJP chief Nitin Gadkari too accompanied his wife Kanchan and family to lock their votes. State BJP Chief Devendra Fadnavis and his family cast their votes at polling booth in NMC Primary School next to Vanamati, while MLA Deenanath Padole exercised his right at polling booth in Sakhre Guruji Ganeshpeth. MLA Krishna Khopde polled his vote at booth No 113 at Satranjipura.
