On Tuesday around 12 noon, Bhat had sprinkled petrol on himself, his wife and son while sitting in the car and set it afire. The incident took place near Khapri Rehabilitation Centre coming under Beltarodi police jurisdiction. Before setting the fire, Bhat had put a suicide note in a purse, wrapped it in a plastic foil and thrown out of the car. In the incident Bhat died on the spot. The suicide note helped the cops know the reason behind the suicide immediately. Later, Bhat’s son Nandan told the police that his father had earlier asked him to drink a poisonous substance telling him that it is for acidity. However, as the colour of the ‘medicine’ was black, Nandan refused to drink it. His wife too refused to drink, reports said.

According to reports, the police are trying to find out more details in the case by questioning Bhat’s wife and son. Cops also questioned some people close top Bhat on Wednesday, but did not get any substantial information. Bhat ran a nut-bolt manufacturing unit. Police have learnt that his business was going well for sometime, and it completely stopped after Covid pandemic.

After his son Nandan completed his engineering, Bhat was hoping that the situation would improve as Nandan would get a job. But, Nandan did not take up any job saying he was waiting for some good opportunity, reports said.
