Car runs over two women in Nagpur, mishap caught on CCTV but still no police action

Nagpur: Following a recent incident in Pune where a Porsche car ran over a young man and woman, a similar case has emerged in Nagpur. A video of an unidentified car driver running over two women has gone viral on social media. The victims, Mamata Sanjay Adame (55) and Vandana Ajay Patil, sustained severe injuries.

According to the available information, on May 7, Mamata Adame and Vandana Patil went for a morning walk at 7 am. A recklessly driven Swift car came from behind and hit both women, causing them serious injuries. They are currently receiving treatment at Suretech Hospital.

The shocking incident was captured on CCTV. Following the incident, Mamata Adame filed a complaint at the Gittikhadan Police Station. The police have registered a case against the unknown driver under IPC Sections 279 (rash driving) and 337 (causing hurt by an act endangering life or personal safety of others), along with Sections 134 and 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Despite several days passing since the incident, the victim’s brother, Kishore Kharnorkar, has accused the police of delaying the investigation.

In response to inquiries by Nagpur Today, Police Inspector Vinod Kalekar confirmed that the incident was recorded on CCTV and that efforts to identify and locate the suspect are underway.
