Cash, gold worth Rs 10.38 lakh stolen from travel agency owner’s house in Nagpur

Nagpur: In yet another house break-in, a gang of thieves burgled cash and gold ornaments collectively worth over Rs 10.38 lakh from the residence of a travel agency owner in Ambazari Police Station area in the small hours of Tuesday.

A resident of Plot No 615, Jhethuji Thekedar Marg, Marartoli, near Durga Mandir, Rajeshwar Krishna Tiwade (32), who owns a travel agency, locked his house and went to his father’s house at Dabha, Gittikhadan, on Monday night. Grabbing the opportunity, burglars struck at his house after midnight. They entered the house after breaking the lock of the main door with a crowbar. The intruders collected gold ornaments of his brother and mother worth Rs 6.34 lakh and Rs 3.95 lakh cash from an almirah kept in the bedroom and decamped with the booty.

When Tiwade returned home around 7.15 am on Tuesday, he was shocked to find the cash and gold ornaments stolen. He immediately informed the Ambazari police. Police staff arrived at the spot and started the investigation. Following Tiwade’s complaint, police registered a case under Sections 454,457,380 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
