CBI sleuths raid Manoj Jayaswal’s Corporate Ispat’s Nagpur office

Nagpur: A Kolkata based 6-member team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday raided the office of coal-scam hit Abhijeet Group’s Corporate Ispat Limited – a company owned by renowned industrialist Manoj Jayaswal. The company is currently facing probe in view of alleged coal block allocation scam.

Many vital documents are reportedly seized in the day-long raid.

It may be mentioned that 1,080 MW capacity power plant earlier owned by coal scam-hit Abhijeet Group at Chandwa in Bihar’s Latehar district has been lying defunct ever since the coal scam came to light. CBI’s raid on Wednesday was allegedly in connection with the ongoing probe.

The proposed power plant, located in the Maoist-affected area in Latehar district, struck with ‘coalgate’ and cost Abhijeet its Chitarpur coal block allocated to the company following the Supreme Court order.

An FIR was also lodged against Manoj Jayaswal, his two sons Abhishek and Abhijeet, who are also the directors in the company and few other executives of the company.

Following the probe around 613.0832 acres of land located at different villages of Chandwa block besides, all machineries, plant, parts, accessories, furniture, vehicles, raw material stocks, cash flow, bank accounts, insurances etc belonging to the beleaguered project meant to generate power from its coal-fired station were acquired.
