The Madgaon bound train is gateway to Goa and though it is running packed since it was started about one and half years back, railways is still dilly-dallying on making it a regular service. At present the special train runs twice a week, though the demand for Goa has been growing steadily since the last few years.
For travellers the ride to Goa goes via Mumbai from where there are a number of services. Hence the weekly special to Madgaon is specially patronised by travellers from Vidarbha. Also, the train is comfortable for travellers ex-Thane from where it moves onto the Konkan Railway route.
