Centre Point School, Katol Road,Wins CBSE Cluster 9 basketball held in Ahmednagar

Nagpur: Two City school teams Centre Point School, Katol Road and BVM, Trimurti Nagar made their presence felt by winning the CBSE Cluster 9 basketball tournament for girls on Sunday.

The five-day meet played in the U-17 and U-19 category was organized by the Atma Malik School in Kopergaon, Ahmednagar.

While BVM Trimurti Nagar girls stamped their authority in the U-17 category, CPS Katol Road emerged as the Numero Uno in the U-19 championship. Both the city school teams have now qualified for the CBSE national basketball championship scheduled to be held at the JBM Global School in Noida from November 24 to 26.

In an all-Nagpur U-17 summit clash, BVM got the better of Modern School Koradi by as many as 14 points (48-34). Player of the tournament and star BVM forward Abha Lad emerged as the top scorer with 20 points. She was ably assisted by shooting guard Sanjana Khandelwal who contributed with 14 points.

While both Abha and Sanjana gelled well to share 34 points between them guards Anvita Awate and Arya Dongre played a supportive role and were effective in the defensive end of the For Modern School, Purvi Mahalle, Shivali Jaggi and Krupai Sharma played well. Earlier in the semifinals, BVM girls defeated Pune’s Millennium School 33-26.

In the U-19 section CPS, Katol Road, girls dominated the show. In their last outing of the all-play-all competition amongst five participating teams, CPS thrashed DAV Public School, Pune, 58-27 to register a thumping triumph.
