Two women were relieved of their mangalsutra in Dhantoli and Ambazari areas on Wednesday.
Animesh Balaram Sony (49), a resident of D4/B, Central Railway Quarters, Ajni was returning home with his wife Shraddha on Wednesday at 9 pm. On the road between Devnagar Square and Ajni Square, two unidentified men came from behind on a pulsar bike and snatched away her mangalsutra worth Rs 20,000. Before she could raise an alarm, the thieves sped away.
The couple reached Dhantoli police station and lodged a complaint against unidentified thieves.
Another chain-snatching took place under the jurisdiction of Ambazari police station on Wednesday at 9 pm. As per details, Sujata Milind Pendse (40) was returning home from Law College Square while she was riding pillion with her husband on his Passion (MH 31 BP 9756). Two youth approached the couple on their Pulsar bike in front of Agrasen Hostel, Amravati Road, Ravi Nagar and snatched her mangalsutra worth Rs 20,000. The youths zoomed passed them before Sujata could raise an alarm.
On the basis of the complaint by Sujata, Ambazari police have registered an offence under Section 392 of the IPC.
