Chain- snatchers target two senior citizens in city

Nagpur News: In fresh cases of the growing chain- snatching menace, senior citizens were targeted by bike- borne chain snatchers in two separate incidents in the city recently.

In the first incident, fifty seven year old Padma Ambadas Damke was returning to her Choks Colony residence from Indora Square, when two young men rushed past her on a bike, snatching a gold chain worth Rs. 25,000 from her neck.

In the second incident, Vijaylakshmi Bhaskarrao Naidu, a resident of Old Ambazari, was walking along North Ambazari Road, when two men on a bike rushed past her near Wankhede Hall and snatched away her mangalsutra worth Rs. 60, 000.

The victims have filed complaints in Jaripatka and Sitabuldi police stations. The police have filed cases under sections 352, 34 of the IPC (Indian Penal Code). Investigations and the hunt for the chain- snatchers are underway.
