Nagpur: Following a devastating blast that claimed the lives of six individuals, including five women, and left several others injured, the Nagpur Police swiftly apprehended the director and manager of Chamundi Explosive Pvt. Ltd. However, the District and Sessions Court in Nagpur has granted bail to the company’s owner, Jai Shivshankar Khemka, and its manager, Sagar Deshmukh.
Senior lawyer Adv. Shyam Dewani appeared on behalf of the accused.
The police action was a result of a thorough investigation into the safety protocols and operational procedures of the factory. The accused, Jai Shivshankar Khemka and Sagar Deshmukh, were arrested under Sections 286, 304-A, and 338 of the IPC, following a complaint lodged by Anurag Bandewar, the son of one of the victims.
The blast occurred at Chamundi Explosive Pvt. Ltd. in Dhamna village, near Nagpur, on Thursday afternoon. It took the lives of six workers and injured three others. The tragic incident unfolded around 1 pm within the Hingna police station limits, approximately 25 km from Nagpur city. Nine injured workers were swiftly transported to two private hospitals, where five women and one man succumbed to their injuries.
The victims have been identified as Pranjali Kisan Modre (22), Prachi Shrikant Falke (20), Vaishali Anandrao Kshirsagar (20), all from Dhamna, Monali Shankarrao Aloney (27) from Neri, Sheetal Ashish Chatap (30), and Pannalal Bandewar (50) from Satnawri. The injured, including ShraddhaVanraj Patil (22), Pramod Chaware (25), Dansa Maraskolhe (26), and three others, received immediate medical attention. One victim was transported to Dande Hospital, Ravi Nagar, while the rest were taken to Mayo Hospital.
