Nagpur: The minimum temperature took a steep dip in Nagpur by 3.4 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours as the city recorded the minimum temperature in single digit — 9.4 degrees Celsius — on Tuesday early morning.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) had already predicted a decrease in maximum and minimum temperatures this week. According to the Weather Department, the absence of moisture and northerly winds raised the winter chill all over Vidarbha. This phenomenon will continue in Vidarbha. In the last week of December and the first week of January, the minimum temperature may decrease up to 6 degrees Celsius with cold waves.
The sudden dip in minimum temperature was felt by citizens throughout the day as the maximum temperature was 2.7 degrees Celsius below normal. The maximum temperature of Nagpur was 26.1 degrees Celsius. The flowing northerly winds raised the discomfort for citizens throughout the day. On Tuesday, Gondia and Yavatmal recorded the lowest minimum temperature of the season all over Maharashtra with 9.0 degrees Celsius. Nagpur was second in the list. Washim (10.0 degrees Celsius), Gadchiroli (10.6 degrees Celsius), Chandrapur (11.0 degrees Celsius), Brahmapuri (11.4 degrees Celsius), Wardha (11.4 degrees Celsius), Amravati (12.5 degrees Celsius), Buldhana (12.8 degrees Celsius) and Akola (13.5 degrees Celsius) also experienced the winter chill on Tuesday.
Buldhana recorded the lowest maximum temperature in Vidarbha on Tuesday with 24.7 degrees Celsius, whereas, Brahmapuri recorded the highest maximum temperature in Vidarbha with 27.9 degrees Celsius. Akola and Yavatmal also recorded the maximum temperature above 27 degrees. Other parts like Amravati, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur and Wardha recorded the maximum temperature between 25 and 26 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. Despite winter chill the fog factor was missing in all over Vidarbha on Tuesday as the visibility in all districts was between 2 km-10 km.
